Haha, this was fun; and quick. I lost the folds on the north-western part, but ala. I tried to render the boots as I liked them from Judy so much. Not sure if someone sees a sarwell in it.
Nice job! Those Cristals do tend to drool a lot, don’t they?!
This is beautiful and delicate!
Looks great to me! And those boots are fab—aren’t they so cool?!
Yes, they are so cool, as are the folds in the trousers. I was so surprised that with just some quick ‘scratches’ you can get something that you can understand as a viewer. Of course it is not a very accurate drawing but you can see it is not a horse but trousers with boots. Normally I fuss a lot, so this was an eye opener.
Now that I lost the fear of drawing folds I want to draw more of them.
Purple bag in black. I lost interest in this drawing pretty early on for some reason. I pushed through and finished; coming up with a bag that doesn’t come close to the reference photo, but at least resulting in much needed practice.
Kyra, I agree about the right paper and pen making a world of difference. That combo is everything, and if one of them is off, it can throw the whole experience off. I think this is an exceptional drawing because you managed to dig deep into the dark folds while using restraint for the rest – while hatching pretty much everywhere. The areas of light are sublime.
It’s funny you should call it a droolfest – because while the Bics are pretty unmerciful with the ink flow, I have the feeling that you cleverly made up for it by spacing your hatches. It gives it all a really nice texture.
The big folds are indeed more challenging, aren’t they? You’ve achieved a beautiful mix of lights and shadows, and the red medium Bic didn’t disappoint! Bravo, Kyra!
I find that to be the toughest thing to fight about a drawing – and I merrily walk away once I lose track of the joy of it. But while I say that, I am also glad that you pushed through because the results are three-dimensional! Well done!
I see the sarwell – and I am super intrigued by this pen.
The 1.6 mm BIC-pens were hard to get for me, as are the BIC-multicolour pens. By mistake I bought these Staedtler triangular pens thinking they were 1.6 mm, but they are 1.0 mm. A nice mistake because now I have all the nice fancy colours in 1.0 mm (Staedtler) and 1.6 mm (BIC).
Thanks for the nice compliments. I was always afraid of going really dark and couldn’t achieve light area’s. Your courses made me brave (in drawing dark) and lighthanded.
It’s a nice bag. FYI, I’ve walked away from all the fold-drawings. They stayed a longtime in the ugly fase. Perseverance and practice are rewarding.
I love this brand! I will try them. Thank you, Kyra!
